About ICC

KES Shroff College is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all its students, faculty, and staff. In adherence to the POSH Act, 2013, and the UGC (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2015, the college has established the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC). The ICC serves as a statutory body to address and redress complaints related to sexual harassment, ensuring a harassment-free campus.

  • Prevent and prohibit sexual harassment within the college premises.
  • Provide a neutral, confidential, and supportive environment for complainants.
  • Ensure fair, timely, and impartial resolution of complaints.
  • Conduct awareness programs to sensitize the college community about sexual harassment and related issues.

Composition of ICC

The ICC at KES Shroff College

  • Presiding Officer: A senior woman faculty member.
  • Faculty Members: At least two members committed to the cause of women or who have experience in social work or legal knowledge.
  • Non-Teaching Staff Member: One member from the administrative staff.
  • External Member: An individual from an NGO or association familiar with issues related to sexual harassment.
  • Student Representatives: As applicable, to represent the student community.

What Constitutes Sexual Harassment?
Sexual harassment includes any unwelcome act or behavior, whether directly or by implication, such as:
1. Physical contact and advances.
2. Demand or request for sexual favors.
3. Making sexually colored remarks.
4. Showing pornography.
5. Any other unwelcome physical, verbal, or non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature.

Complaint Redressal Mechanism
Filing a Complaint:
Complaints should be submitted in writing to the Presiding Officer of the ICC within three months from the date of the incident.
In cases where the complainant is unable to file a complaint due to physical or mental incapacity, a legal heir or other appropriate person may do so on their behalf.

Procedure:
1. Preliminary Inquiry: Upon receipt of a complaint, the ICC conducts a preliminary inquiry to ascertain the facts.
2. Investigation: If the complaint falls under the purview of sexual harassment, a detailed investigation is initiated.
3. Confidentiality: All proceedings are conducted with utmost confidentiality to protect the privacy of all parties involved.
4. Resolution: Based on the findings, appropriate action is recommended to the college authorities.

False Complaints: If a complaint is found to be malicious or false, the ICC may recommend action against the complainant as per the provisions of the POSH Act.

The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of KES Shroff College is committed to fostering a safe and respectful environment for all members of the college community. The key functions of the ICC include:
1. Preventing Sexual Harassment at the Workplace: Ensuring that all staff, faculty, and students are protected against any form of sexual harassment within the college premises.
2. Promoting Gender Amity: Actively working to eliminate gender-based discrimination and promoting harmony among students and employees, with a particular focus on the safety and dignity of girls and women.
3. Conducting Awareness and Empowerment Programs: Organizing regular seminars, workshops, and training sessions to spread awareness about gender sensitivity and to empower women in academic and professional spaces.
4. Ensuring a Conducive Environment: Striving to maintain a positive, inclusive, and congenial atmosphere that supports the growth, safety, and well-being of women on campus.

Who Can Approach the ICC?
Any aggrieved woman who believes she has been subjected to sexual harassment at the workplace is eligible to seek redressal through the Internal Complaints Committee.
1. An aggrieved woman may include: A female employee of the institution (teaching or non-teaching staff),
2. A student enrolled in the college,
3. A visitor or any woman present on the college premises for official, academic, or other professional purposes.

Awareness and Sensitization Programs
The ICC regularly organizes workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns to:
1. Educate the college community about the provisions of the POSH Act.
2. Promote a culture of respect and dignity.
3. Encourage individuals to speak up against sexual harassment.
