National Cadet Corps is a Tri-Services Organisation, comprising the Army, Navy, and Air Wing, engaged in grooming the youth of the country into disciplined and patriotic citizens. It functions under the Ministry of Defence, Govt of India. The head of the Organisation at All India level is the Director-General NCC who is an officer from the Indian Army in the rank of Lieutenant General. The NCC in India has formed the National Cadet Corps Act of 1948. It can be traced back to the ‘University Corps’, which was created under the Indian Defence Act 1917, with the objective to make up for the shortage in the Army.

Unity and Discipline are NCC Moto. The NCC is divided into 17 Directorates,  these further sub-divided into 95 Groups, which are composed of 814 units.

We are proud to mention that our college is one such subunit that offers NCC to our own students in our own campus. The College has NCC (ARMY) Unit, which is affiliated to 3, Mah. BN.

52 students can join NCC every year for NCC training, NCC mainly gives military training to the young students which enables them to develop their all-round personality. From the year 2017-18 even girls of our college are now allowed to join NCC unit.

At our college, the NCC unit is a vibrant and integral part of student life. Cadets participate in a variety of activities including drill training, adventure camps, social service, and community development programs. These experiences empower them with life skills, resilience, and a sense of purpose.

Students who wish to enroll in the NCC must meet the following eligibility criteria:

General Eligibility:
  • Good Character – Must have a clean background.
  • Nationality – Indian citizen or subject of Nepal (relaxation possible).
  • Age Limit – Below 24 years (relaxation possible).
  • Student Status – Must be enrolled in a college with an NCC unit.
  • Physical Fitness – Must meet required medical standards (height, chest, etc.).
  • No Serious Criminal Record – No conviction involving moral turpitude (unless pardoned/certified fit).
  • Service Record – Should not be dismissed from NCC/Armed Forces/TA.
  • Organization Restriction – Should not belong to banned/restricted organizations.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must be willing to attend regular parades, training camps, and participate actively in NCC activities.
  • Must obtain parental/guardian consent (for minors).
  • Should not have any criminal background or involvement in anti-national activities.
  • To develop character, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, and the spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service among the youth.
  • To create a human resource of organized, trained, and motivated youth to provide leadership in all walks of life and always available for the service of the nation.
  • To provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed Forces.
  • To instill a sense of patriotism, unity, and integrity among cadets through structured programs and camps.
  • To foster the spirit of community service and social responsibility through outreach programs and awareness campaigns.

The NCC is a responsive, learning, and continuously evolving organization. Its activity is guided by certain Core Values that we endeavor to instill among all ranks of the NCC. These include the following:

  1. To encourage cadets to actively contribute to national development and service.
  2. To promote understanding and appreciation of differences in religion, language, culture, ethnicity, lifestyle, and habitat fostering national unity and social cohesion.
  3. To instill an abiding commitment to the values and principles enshrined in the Indian Constitution, such as justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.
  4. To develop respect for lawful authority and the importance of its just, fair, and impartial exercise.
  5. To empower cadets with the ability and motivation to participate meaningfully in community development and social welfare programs.
  6. To encourage habits that support a healthy lifestyle, free from substance abuse and other harmful behaviors.
  7. To nurture empathy and responsiveness towards the needs and struggles of the poor, marginalized, and socially disadvantaged.
  8. To inculcate habits of self-control, emotional balance, and mindfulness in decision-making and behavior.
  9. To reinforce the importance of honesty, truthfulness, self-sacrifice, perseverance, and hard work as lifelong guiding principles.
  10. To foster an attitude of curiosity, learning, critical thinking, and appreciation for intellectual and creative pursuits.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AFTER NCC

  • NCC ‘C’ certificate holders get direct entry into the Service Selection Board.
  • IMA – 13-15 vacancies reserved for ‘C’ Certificate (Army Wing) holders.
  • INA – 05-08 vacancies reserved for ‘C’ Certificate (Naval Wing) holders.
  • OTA Chennai – 50 vacancies for ‘C’ certificate holders for NCC Spl. Entry (non tech).
  • NCC “C” Certificate holders receive direct SSB interview entry and preference in recruitment for the Armed Forces, police, CRPF, BSF, CISF, and other paramilitary services.
  • NCC cadets receive bonus marks or reservations in admissions to higher education and professional courses in select universities.
  • NCC achievements are recognized and add value during college admission processes and interviews.
  • NCC cadets are given priority in recruitment for various state and central government jobs.
  • Meritorious NCC cadets are eligible for stipends, scholarships, and performance-based awards.
  • Cadets get the opportunity to attend prestigious national events like the Republic Day Camp, Youth Exchange Programmes, and All India Trekking and Leadership Camps.
  • NCC cadets earn national-level recognition through certificates, medals, and awards for their excellence and participation.
