In compliance with the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging (2009) and AICTE guidelines, KES Shroff College of Arts & Commerce has established an Anti-Ragging Cell to ensure a safe, secure, and ragging-free academic environment.

The Cell follows a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging and works proactively to prevent, prohibit, and redress any incidents through awareness programs, monitoring mechanisms, and prompt grievance redressal. The Anti-Ragging Cell is committed to fostering a culture of mutual respect, discipline, and inclusivity, enabling students to pursue their education without fear or intimidation.

Ragging includes any act, direct or indirect, that causes physical, psychological, emotional, or academic harm to a student. Such acts include:

  • Instigating, assisting, conspiring, or participating in ragging, including unlawful assembly, rioting, or creating public nuisance.
  • Any behavior violating dignity, decency, morals, or personal freedom, including wrongful restraint, confinement, use of force, assault, sexual or unnatural offences.
  • Causing injury, mental trauma, humiliation, intimidation, threats, extortion, or harassment through verbal, written, digital, or public means.
  • Criminal acts such as trespass, damage to property, or offences against personal or institutional assets.
  • Any attempt, encouragement, or support of the above actions.
  • Any conduct that disrupts academic activities or interferes with a student’s right to study and participate in campus life.
  • Any act falling under the definition of ragging as prescribed by UGC regulations.

Depending on the severity and nature of the offence, and as decided by the Anti-Ragging Committee, one or more of the following penalties may be imposed:

  • Suspension from classes, examinations, academic privileges, or campus activities.
  • Withholding of results, scholarships, fellowships, placements, or institutional benefits.
  • Debarring from representing the institution in academic, cultural, or sports events.
  • Suspension or expulsion from hostels.
  • Cancellation of admission, rustication for a specified period, or permanent expulsion from the institution.
  • Prohibition from seeking admission to other institutions for a defined duration.
