About Programme

The three-year undergraduate degree programme of Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) offered by the Department of Humanities at KES’ Shroff College of Arts and Commerce allows students to choose from a wide range of subjects including economics, geography, sociology, psychology, political science, history, Hindi. We are one of the few colleges in Mumbai offering full majors in geography and psychology and aspire to take our department to new heights in times to come. The students can complement the course with various new and interesting certificate courses.

We believe that our strength is in our students and hence aim to develop them to the fullest potential by engaging them in routinely planned activities that enable them to think beyond the margins of the textbook and come up with out of the box ideas and develop the requisite skills and confidence to pursue a lucrative career in liberal arts or the social sciences. We constantly strive to offer our students such opportunities which lead to their holistic development not merely for the purpose of their own personal growth but with a view to building them as responsible citizens and members of the society.

Upon pursuing this course, students will find themselves equipped to pursue postgraduate studies in their chosen discipline and acquire a strong multidisciplinary academic foundation. Our B.A. Programme equips students with critical thinking skills, communication skills and attempts to provide them with a skill set which will enable them to pursue career opportunities offered by the Liberal Arts stream.

  • The BA Programme is one of the most sought graduation course for students who wish to explore while learning and meant for students wish create their own path. The BA Programme course offered by the KES’ Shroff College of Arts and Commerce prepares students with critical thinking skills, communication skills and a foundation in the humanities. The course offers large amount of flexibility with diverse subjects of disciplinary and interdisciplinary nature.
  • The BA Programme has been conceived as a terminal degree with substantial intellectual equipment, and as an enabling degree for higher studies. The students can choose from an array of subjects including economics, geography, sociology, psychology, political science, history, hindi and compliment them with various new and interesting credit courses.

How to Apply

The admission procedure usually starts in the month of June after the results of class XII are declared.

  1. Fill the Pre-enrollment form of the University of Mumbai through the University portal (mum.digitaluniversity.ac). Select the autonomous option for BA
  2. Fill online admission form on kesshroffcollege.com
  3. Upload a copy of the pre-enrollment form, HSC mark sheet/digital result, caste/reservation certificate if applicable, and E-Suvidha ticket.
  4. On the declaration of merit list (first then second then third if applicable) pay the fees along with submission of the documents such as Undertaking regarding admission confirmation, SSC(X marksheet), Leaving Certificate, Adhar card, scanned copy of Cheque book leaflet/bank account details and transfer certificate in case the student is from outside Maharashtra.

A candidate for being eligible for admission to the three year degree programme of Bachelor of Arts must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std. XII) examination conducted by the different Divisional Boards of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education with the following subjects: –
1. English
2. Any one of the Modern Indian Languages or Modern Foreign Languages or any classical Language or Information Technology.
3. Any four subjects carrying 100 marks each.
OR
Must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std. XII) examination with vocational subject conducted by the different Divisional Boards of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education with the following subjects: –
1. English
2. Any one vocational subject carrying 200 marks prescribed
by the Board from time to time.
3. Any three subjects carrying 100 marks each.
OR
Must have passed an examination of another University or Body Recognized as equivalent thereto.

  • Total no. of Seats: 240Reservation of Seats: Reservations are as per the Government policy.Fees: As prescribed by the University of Mumbai. The programme shall consist of 39 Theory papers and Project work.

Enforcement of Attendance:

Our college is a pioneer institute in introducing the computerized attendance system. The computerized defaulters’ lists are displayed division wise regularly at the end of every month on the Students Notice Board. The students failing to fulfill the required attendance shall be DETAINED and shall not be permitted to take the Annual / Board examination. Warning letters from the Principal are sent to parents of the defaulting students. The letters are given to the concerned students by the class teachers in the classrooms. The students must hand over these warning letters to the parents. Students should note that fulfilling the attendance requirement alone will not qualify them to appear for the examination. Their academic performance should also be to the satisfaction of the principal.

General Rules & Regulations:

  1. Every student should obtain an ID card and show at the entry
  2. Students should not loiter in the corridors when the lectures are engaged
  3. Giving proxy attendance is a serious act of indiscipline
  4. Students applying for certificates/testimonials and attestation should first contact the college office
  5. Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college premises
  6. The use of mobile phones inside the college is strictly prohibited. If caught using a cell phone it is confiscated for a period of 1 year

Punitive Measures:

  1. Warning

  3. Refusal to grant admission in future
  4. Withholding or withdrawing of University exam form
  5. Expulsion / rustication from college
  6. Fine not exceeding Rs. 300
  7. Non-refund of fees and deposits
